Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate level courses and supervise public school practica in a Special Education undergraduate state, CEC, NCATE standards based program. Courses require integration of theory with practice and involve supervision of public school/agency practica. Project ReQuEST: Research on Quality in Educating Special Education Teachers

Project ReQuEST will prepare four doctoral-level leaders in special education committed to contributing to the teacher quality research base. Through coursework and other opportunities, ReQuEST scholars will acquire: (a) knowledge of issues related to teacher quality, (b) effective pedagogy for teaching special education teachers about evidenced-based practices, (c) background in pedagogical content knowledge, (d) research skills for conducting teacher quality research, (e) knowledge of issues related to students with disabilities who have diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and (f) and knowledge of effective dissemination. The Project will provide a competitive support package that will include: an assistantship, tuition waivers, health insurance, and travel allowance (Approximately $38k annually). Position Announcement for Tenure Track Position in Early Childhood Special Education:

The Department of Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announces a full time tenure track position in the area of early childhood special education beginning in the 2010 academic year. We seek candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and teaching diverse learners. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Special Education and in the Early Childhood Education program, which is a cross-departmental major; advising; supervision of directed teaching; some administrative duties; and participation in research and service activities. The Teacher Education Division (TED) presents awards to professionals and state chapters that acknowledge significant contributions to special education, teacher education, and the TED organization. These are: the TED/Merrill Excellence in Teacher Education Award, the TED Publication Award, the TED Dissertation Award for Doctoral Level Research, the TED President’s award, the TED Distinguished Service Award, Small Special Education Programs Caucus’ Nasim Dil Award for Outstanding Service to Teacher Education , and Certificates of Appreciation.
